Rifle Scopes FAQs
What type of mount does the POSP series have/Russian
Small Arms Mounting System?
The POSP series will It can be easily mounted to any automatic
weapon based on the Russian AK and its variants including the
AKM, AK 47, AK 74, any SVD sniper rifles, the VSS, VSK, PKN, PKMN,
SAR-1, RPK, PK, Tiger, Saiga, Vepr and any Chinese, Yugoslavian,
Romanian and other versions of these weapons. The Russian Standard
Small Arms Mounting System (RSSAMS) clamp is the universal mount
for Russian-derived assault weapons. To mount a POSP scope, first
open the locking lever, then align the clamp with the rail and
slide the scope all the way forward. You should feel the scope
being guided by the rail and then stopped by the end of the mounting
clamp. Once you fit the end, simply close the locking lever. A
variation on the standard RSSAMS is the PSO-1 or Dragunov style
mount. This type of mounting clamp has a forward placed stop pin.
The clamp has to slide all the way forward on the rail with the
pin being guided by the groove in the rail until it catches the
closed end of the groove in the left most position. For this variation
of the RSSAMS you must have a plate with a closed front end or
the clamp will slide right through or if it is a closed middle
grove, it won't allow the scope to come off at the other end of
the rail and the scope will always retain its "zero".
A third variation is the Saiga/AK type of mounting clamp with
its rear-placed stop pin. It is designed to fit mounting plates
found on AK, Saiga, and Vepr rifles. The clamp has to slide forward
on the rail until it is being stopped as the pin comes against
the back (right) end of the mounting plate. This version only
fits plates with a closed right end of the rail. This mount places
the scope a little higher on the weapon and not as far forward
as the PSO-1 mount.
Can I fit the POSP series with its Russian
Standard Small Arms Mounting System to a Western rifle?
The RSSAMS with the built-in side mount were specifically designed
for Russian assault rifles and their hunting and foreign variants.
The mounts are non-removable. They won't fit standard 1"
/ 30 mm rings, or guns without the side rail.
What do the letters on the Windage and Elevation
adjustments stand for?

How does the Dragunov reticule work?

How does the POSP 3-9x42 reticule work?

Reticule calibration.
This scope is calibrated for a 7.62x54R round. See below for Elevation
Turret and Bullet Drop compensation tables.
Elevation Turret and Bullet Drop compensation
tables.
Most of our scopes are adjustable by 6 clicks
to the left or right evenly placed, adjustable with an uneven
scale numbered from 0 to 10 with a different number of clicks
between the numbers or with a scale from 0 to 20 with evenly incremented
clicks. Below are the adjustment tables for the last two types
of scales. The scales run to 850 meters after which you'll have
to use the consequently following chevrons for each 100 m of the
distance for up to 1200 meters. These tables are estimated as
the actual bullet drop depends on many other factors, such as
the ammo, rifle, surrounding environment, temperature, etc. The
bullet drop compensation presented in these tables is for 7.62x54R
or.308 rounds. If you have a scope with 400 m rangefinder the
reticule in this scope is calibrated for 7.62x39 round. In this
case you should use the chevrons to compensate for each 100 m
of the distance for up to 300 m.
